The UniFi MCP Server is published on PyPI and can be installed with either pip or uv. Once installed, the unifi-mcp-server command is available globally in your terminal and can be referenced directly in your MCP client configuration.
Python 3.10 or higher is required. To check your version, run python --version or python3 --version.

Install the package

Choose your preferred package manager. Both install the same package from PyPI.
After installation, the unifi-mcp-server command is available globally in your shell.

Run without installing

If you want to run the server without a permanent install, uvx fetches and executes the package directly from PyPI in an isolated environment:
uvx is ideal for MCP client configurations where you want to keep the host environment clean. It always pulls the latest published version unless you pin a version with uvx unifi-mcp-server==0.2.4.

Verify the installation

After installing, confirm the command is available:
You should see the server’s help output listing available options.

Install a specific version

To pin to a known-good release, specify the version number:
The current stable release is 0.2.4. See the PyPI release history for all available versions.
